Have you ever thought about what the best invention of all time is?
Well I have, and I think that the best invention would be computers. “On February
14, 1946 the computer was introduced to the consumer costing only a few hundred dollars. Computers were first called Electronic Numerical Integator”. (“The Face of Computing 50 Years and 18,000 Tubes Ago”) Computers are the best invention of all time because you can find valuable information, work at home, and stay connected with family and friends.
To begin, before computers people would have to go track down books and spend most and or all of their time looking for little bits of information. But now we have computers so we spend less time looking for information. People also get a better chance to learn about facts, news, and because of the invention of the computer we have sights like google, yahoo, and ask.com.
The second reason is because computers have made it available for people to do work and homework at home. I know that this has helped me out so that I don’t have to stay after school. I can go home and work on my computer and do my homework and do things that I need to get done at home. I think this would help out parents because they can bring their work home and spend time with there kids, if computers were not invented it would make work hard plus parents would have to be at the office longer and that means less time at home with their family. “Today PCs are used for just about everything from finances to entertainment in the home. In the workplace they're just as versatile, used in accounting offices and on factory floors.” (“Computers add convenience -- for most”)
The Third reason computers are the best invention of all time is because you can stay connected, which means you can find people, talk to family and or friends. There are web sights out there that have made it possible to stay connected, sights like Match.com that help you find love. There are also sights like Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and blogs where you can keep in touch with friends and family, you also find people that you use to know. There are also sites that let you type peoples names in and it finds them for you. “Social network allow individuals to present themselves, articulate their social networks, and establish or maintain connections with others. These sites can be oriented towards work-related contexts romantic relationship initiation, connecting those with shared interests such as music or politics, or the college student population. Participants may use the sites to interact with people they already know offline or to meet new people.” (“The Benefits of Facebook "Friends:" Social Capital and College Students' Use of Online Social Network Sites”)
Conversely, some people might disagree with me. They might not think computers are the best invention because they will say people and kids spend too much time on computers or people cause drama on the social network sights. How ever, no matter what you think computers help you learn, some might spend too much time on them but if computers were not invented life would be very hard. If we didn’t have computers kids might be out causing problems so I don’t think it’s a big deal if they play on the computer. No matter what people are being bulled or hurt computers are not to blame for that because if the person that wants to hurt people will find other ways to do it if computers were not invented.
In conclusion, computers are the best invention by far because of its conveniences such as staying connected, work at home, and ability to find good information. I have a computer at my house, its very convent me family uses it quit often. My family uses our computer for games, social networking sights, ask sights for our home work, and my mom and dad use it for banking and taxes. If my family didn’t own a computer it would make our every day life way different and hard at times.
